What makes Enviromulch ® wood chips different from other bark chippings?
There are 5 key reasons why Enviromulch ® wood chips are different:
1. Plant growth is assisted
Enviromulch ® garden mulch is made from 100% recycled wood that’s air-dried. This process closes down the cells in the timber, which reduces its ability to hold water and thereby slows down the decomposition rate. This reduces the nitrogen demand from the soil, allowing the plants to absorb more of the fertiliser. So the plants are better-fed, and able to grow healthily.
2. Weed growth is inhibited
You’d think that more nitrogen in the soil might mean more weeds? Wrong! For one thing, Enviromulch ® garden mulch is graded to an average length of 50mm, which makes it difficult for weeds to grow.
What’s more, unlike bark chippings, Enviormulch ® wood chips are made from recycled wood, so it’s free from seeds and plant matter. The garden mulch you can get from arborists can actually introduce weeds – but with Enviromulch® you don’t have that worry.
3. Less need to water plants in dry weather
Enviromulch ® garden mulch shields the soil from the sun, so the soil’s surface is kept cool and allows water retention. Consequently you won’t need to spend as much time watering those areas covered in Enviromulch® woodchips.
4. Stays in place
Isn’t it annoying when your garden mulch starts “moving”? This can be a real problem, especially on sloping sections.
But with Enviromulch ® woodchips you don’t have that worry: it’s a light product which mats together. This allows heavy rain to disperse through and under the mulch later, helping the mulch to hold onto even the steepest of banks.
5. Outlasts other woodchips and bark chips
Enviromulch ® garden mulch has been tried and tested extensively since its launch in 1996. Time after time, this garden mulch is still in great condition at least 5 years after its first installation. Enviromulch® wood chips are definitely the low-maintenance, high-results option when it comes to garden mulches!
6. Available in different colours to suit your landscape
Enviromulch ® garden mulch is available in a range of different colours to suit your landscaping. Read more about decorative coloured mulches here.
Enviromulch® garden mulch is proven to outperform other woodchips!
The 2 photos below are from the same stretch of motorway. Both areas were mulched and planted with the same variety of natives in 2005.
The photograph on the left was mulched with Enviromulch ® wood chip: this area appears to have had a 100% success rate for the native plants surviving and growing. The plants in the photograph are 14 to 16 feet tall with excellent trunk girth. This photo was taken in 2011.
The photograph on the right was also taken in 2011, but it shows an area that was mulched with other products, such as post peelings, arborist chip and bark mulch. As you can see these areas are weed-laden and only the Manuka survived. There are no signs of the mulch remaining.
Enviromulch® garden mulch is environmentally-friendly
Not only are Enviromulch ® wood chips made from 100% post-industrial waste, unlike bark chips and bark chippings there’s no chance of plant diseases being transmitted, or seeds from noxious plants being transferred to your landscape.
